This course is intended for people who already have a valid First Aid at Work certificate and aims to allow first aiders to update
and refresh their knowledge and experience using classroom and casualty simulation exercises. (Our course organiser can liaise with the engaging clients’ representative, in order to discuss the boundaries and scope of such exercises, prior to the start of the course).
On completion of the course, delegates will have gained an updated knowledge in:
Risk Assessment
Action at the sene of an accident/emergency
Basic Life Support
Resuscitation CPR
Management of unconsciousness
Recognition and treatment of shock
Control of bleeding
Burns and scalds
Practical workplace scenarios
And will also have taken part in a programme of simulated casualty exercises.
Maximum course size 12 Prerequisites
Delegates should hold a valid First Aid at Work Certificate and have the ability to cope with an intensecourse of study and practical activity in involving controlled casualty exercises.
They may be encouraged to act as casualties themselves but are given the option to decline.
Suitability
It is suggested that qualified first aiders should attend this course at least once within the period of their current First Aid at Work certification.
Qualification
Existing first aid at work certificates will be checked by the Instructor, to confirm a suitable update has taken place, each sucessful candidate will recieve a First Aid Skills Update Certificate.
