1 Day Emergency First Aid at Work Aid Course

Duration 6 hours
ObjectiveDescription
This course is a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) approved Emergency Aid Course, in accordance with the Health and
Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

The course aims to teach delegates basic aspects of dealing with emergencies, with an emphasis on those
occurring in the workplace. Handling ‘life threatening’ situations is covered as well as recognising and responding to some of the more
common ailments that may be encountered in the workplace.


On completion of the course, delegates will be able to recognise and deal with:
  • The principles of first aid
  • Emergency actions         
  • Unconscious casualties
  • Asphyxia
  • Non-breathing casualties
  • A casualty whose heart has stopped
  • Severe and minor bleeding
  • Bandages and dressings
  • First aid kits
  • Burns and scalds
  • Shock
  • The risk of infection – HIV, hepatitis
  • Head injuries
  • Common medical conditions;
  • Asthma
  • Record-keeping

Maximum Course size 12 persons

This course is ideal for people who do not require a fully
certificated 3 Day First Aid at Work qualification but who feel that
a basic
knowledge in the subject would be useful to their role.

The course is assessed by an ongoing assessment and also by peer assessment.  
If successful the
delegate will receive a HSE approved Emergency First Aid Certificate, which will be valid for three years
