This course is a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) approved First Aid at Work course, in accordance with the Health and
Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
The First Aid at Work course is a 18 hour course run normally over three consecutive days and includes both theory and practical sessions, but by arrangement the course could be run on days to suit the client such as non-consecutive days if necessary
Once qualified, holders of this First Aid at Work certificate can be used as First Aiders in the workplace in accordance with
the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. This course is designed to give the First Aider the skills necessary to give effective life support, diagnose and treat injuries or illness, and maintain care and comfort of the casualty while waiting for the medical services to arrive.
This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience needs, for example, clerical or engineering staff.

At the end of this course, delegates will be able to:
Assess emergency situations and carry out appropriate action including informing emergency services.
Carry out chest compressions artificial ventilations CPR.
Place casualty into the recovery position and know how to use this position.
Control severe bleeding. and recognise and treat shock.
Understand the requirements of a first aid kit and how to report accidents in the workplace.
Recognise and treat major illnesses.
Deal with burns and scalds.
Recognise and treat fractures.
Carry out the duties of a First Aider in a safe and approved manner, with no risk to themselves or third party.
Maximum Course Size 12 Delegates
Delegates are required to actively participate in the practical demonstrations for assessment purpose in order to achieve
their certification. Delegates should dress appropriately for carrying out floor-based demos such as CPR. The course is assessed via a practical assessment by independent assessors. Potential first aiders should: Possess an aptitude to absorb new knowledge and skills, to be able to cope with physically demanding first aid emergencies, have duties that do not prevent them from going imediately to emergencies
